Though branded Specialized this is a refinished Peugeot Triathlon PGN10, built from Reynolds 501 with a neat quill seatpost set-up. Probably from 1986, this model came at a lower price point than the full 531C Triathlon Peugeot also offered, but still had the racy geometry and recessed allen key brakes. The quill seatpost does away with a seat post bolt on the frame itself and results in a very neatly finished frame design.

Peugeot are perhaps the best known mass producers of bicycles and have a long and illustrious history. Cycles Peugeot began producing Penny Farthings in 1886, quickly moving with the technological advancements of the day and becoming one of the world's largest and most successful bike builders through the post war period and bike boom years. With an astonishing 500 models of bike available in the 1970s Peugeot were ubiquitous in Europe and North America, sales were aided by ongoing success with the factory professional team which won an unprecedented 10 Tour de France titles. The company strived to use French built parts on all of its bikes for many years, and there are many brilliant examples of their bikes fully decked out with parts from Stronglight, Simplex and Mavic.
We believe this is a 1961 Peugeot PL-8 in original 'Italian Blue' colour. The paintwork and decals all look orignal and are in pretty good order for a bike over 60 years old. Designed for every day use, the PL-8 had 4 gears at the rear and a double chainset up front with comfortable swept back handlebars, the sort of bike that was once ubiquitous on the streets of any French city. With a neatly designed rear rack, mudguards and integrated dynamo lights included this will make a super town bike, commuter or period porteur bike.
If you're taking part in L'Eroica or a similar vintage event, this frame is of the correct age, so you won't be disqualified for being a rule breaker!

Seat Tube (ctc) - we measure from the centre of the bottom bracket shell up to the centre line of the top tube to give a consistent measurement regardless of frame design (ctc means centre to centre).
Top Tube (ctc) - this is measured from the centre of the head tube to the centre of the seat tube, along the centre of the top tube.
Chainstay Length - measured from the centre of the bottom bracket shell to the centre point of the rear dropout.
Wheelbase - measured from the centre of the front fork dropout to the centre point of the rear dropout.
Front & Rear Spacing - measured from the inside of one dropout to the other. The dropouts on steel frames can be stretched or squeezed a few mm but it's always best to avoid this if possible, aluminium or carbon frames should never be stretched.
Brake Drop - measured using wheels of the relevant size for the frame, as stated in the technical info section.
Headset Threads - although it's generally recommended to match threaded parts exactly, with headsets you can technically mix and match, unless you have French or the obscure old Raleigh threads, in which case you need to stick to that type.

This original 1952 Peugeot PC 40 frameset was built at the height of Peugeot's powers as a bike manufacturer when they were producing nearly a quarter of a million bikes annually. The PC 40 was a lightweight 'Tourisme' model and would have been offered like this and as a dropped top tube 'step-through' version. Designed to be a quality every day bike with mudguards and a few gears operated from a top tube shifter, alongside the comfy and practical 650B wheels this example still has its original paint finish and decals and is ready to be put back into service again.

The Puymorens was Peugeot's top of the range steel framed race bike and was used by the pro team in continental classic races. Built from Reynolds 531 'Professionnel' with their neat quill seatpost, the Puymorens was a lightweight race bike designed to go fast.
This mid 80s Puymorens has been refurbished by Argos at some point and carries Argos branding instead of the original Peugeot team logos. We assume that at the same time it was repainted the frame was converted to internal brake cable routing as this model was not available with this specification and there is a faint trace of where the original top tube cable stops would have lived. It is nicely finished in a typical Peugeot grey with chromed dropouts and drive side chainstay and some period brand decals.

Bernard Thévenet in-a-box!
These little team kits are simply incredible. Genuine dead-stock from the late 70s, they come complete with jersey, shorts & team cap.
Please check the measurements below as they don't have official sizes on them, the shorts should fit anywhere from a 20 to 26 inch waist, but please check the measurements below against jersey/shorts that fit well if you can to make sure.
They're still in their original boxes which haven't survived too well over the years. The kits themselves do have some storage related marks and as you can imagine they could do with a wash to freshen up the scent, but once washed your young Thevenet will be good to go.
