Width (ctc)* - measured at the ends of the drops, from the centre of one side to the other (ctc), to the nearest cm. In some cases the bars may display a different width as some brands measure outside to outside rather than ctc, but we always use this measurement for consistency.
Shape - Classic' drops have a smooth curve, 'anatomic' have multiple angles for different hand positions, 'compact' are short reach with a shallow drop and randonneur bars are usually classic in shape but flare out at the drops.
Clamp Size - this should match the internal diameter of your handlebar stem clamp, and should be as close as possible to ensure a good and safe fit.
Drop (ctc) - from the top flat section to the bottom of the drops, measured from the centre of one to the other with the flat part at the end of the drops parrallel to the ground.
Reach (ctc) - measured from the centre of the top section to the centre of the 'curve' at its furthest point, giving you the maximum reach. We measure this with the flat part at the end of of the drops parrallel to the ground.
Cable Groove - these allow you to run your cables neatly underneath the handlebar tape, if your setup requires this.

Extension Length (ctc)* - we measure from the centre of the handlebar clamp to the centre of the shaft, to the point where the stem bolt passes through, to the nearest 5 mm. We always take this measurement in a straight line through middle of the extension, not along the top. In some cases the stem may be stamped with a different extension length as some manufacturers measured differently, but we always use our own measurement for consitency.
Quill Size - the most common size for classic and vintage road bikes is 1", this should be the same as the outside diameter of your fork's steerer column. Oversized steerers found on mountain bikes and later road bikes will be either 1 1/8" or 1 1/4".
Steerer Size (ID) - this is the most important measurement when checking the stem fits your bike. This should match the measurement of the inside of your fork's steerer column, where the stem will be inserted. The standard size for road quill stems was 22.2 mm, or 22.0 mm in France until the 1980s.
Total Shaft Height - measured from the top where the expander bolt head sits, to the bottom of the stem's shaft. To give you an idea of how high the stem can be set, there should be an absolute minimum of 50 mm inserted into the fork steerer, although most stems come with a 'minimum insertion line' to help with this.
Clamp Size - this should match the outside diameter of your handlebars and should be as close as possible to ensure a good and safe fit.

Extension Length (ctc)* - measured from the centre of the handlebar clamp to the centre of the steerer clamp, to the nearest 5 mm. This measurement is taken through the middle of the extension, not along the top or bottom.
Steerer Size (OD) - OD means outside diameter, this is the most important measurement when checking the stem fits your bike. This should match the measurement of the outside of your fork's steerer column, where the stem will be clamped.
Bar Clamp Size - this should match the outside diameter of your handlebars and should be as close as possible to ensure a good and safe fit.
Stack Height - the height of the part that clamps to the forks. This is the minimum amount of space you will need on the fork's steerer column for the stem to fit (minus a few mm as the top of the steerer tube needs to sit just below the top of the stem).
Angle - the angle of the stem's extension in relation to the the fork steerer. Bear in mind the steerer sits at the same angle as the head tube, so a 90 degree stem would not be parallel to the ground. Some manufacturers refer to this as rise or drop, in which case an 80 degree stem would drop 10 degrees from a right angle. Most a-head stems can be flipped although it does depend on the design.

A London institution, Condor Cycles have had premises on Gray's Inn Road for nearly 75 years, having produced hand made bikes for pop stars, olympians and world champions alike. Originally a Triumph dealer, the shop that was to become Condor Cycles was started by Monty Young with some help from Harry Rensch, building hand made frames just down the road from Pedal Pedlar HQ back in 1948. After a brief hiatus for Monty to do some national service, Condor employed the highly skilled BIll Hurlow to build their bikes in 1954, continueing to do so until 1968. With intricately cut fancy lugs the Hurlow built Condors are now highly prized. Through the next few decades Condor continued to nurture new British racing talent and build high end bikes, they also managed to keep up with the industry and adapt their bikes to the new materials making bikes from aluminium and carbon. Despite a shift to mass producing bikes in the far east, Condor still produce custom and off the peg steel frames at their facility in Italy.
Though best known for their road bikes Condor built a number of mountain bikes through the 1980s, offering custom and semi-custom options. This frameset probably dates from 1989, the Reynolds 531 All Terrain decal in this style was used up until then and the frame arrived with us with a a few first generation Campagnolo Euclid parts, which was available at the time. As you'd expect from a frame builder of Condor's repute it is very nicely made and would have been a very expensive custom bike back in the day. There is a small dent on the top tube and some slight deformation to the seat tube below the seat clamp, none of which affect the structural integrity.
The frame's been carefully checked by one of our mechanics to confirm the alignment's correct and there's no damage to the threads. If there are any minor issues worth noting we will do so in the overview section below. Please take a good look at the detailed photos so you can see the cosmetic condition of the frame before you buy.OVERVIEW

Lexpres was a small cycle shop in Antwerp, Belgium that built (or had built for them) bikes bearing their name in the late 1970s and early 1980s. There are very few examples of their bikes still in circulation, but it seems that track bikes were a speciality.
It is built from lightweight but strong Ishiwata 022 tubing with Shimano horizontal dropouts and Bocama lugs, and is not drilled for a brake. The frame is stamped '77' on the bottom bracket shell which given the frame details suggest this could well be the year of manufacture. With it's original paintwork and transfers this classic frameset is ready to be built up and put back to work on the boards.
The frame's been carefully checked by one of our mechanics to confirm the alignment's correct and there's no damage to the threads. Mino Denti was a great Italian racer who rode for some fantastic teams throughout the 1960s, he would probably be classed as a super-domestique these days as he was often found riding for the bigger names on his team. After his racing career ended in the late 1960s, Mino worked in the management side of professional cycling before taking the well-trodden path to starting his own bicycle business in 1979. Unlike most of his contemporaries, Mino decided he would do the building himself, and whilst there are very few Mino built frames out there, they're all beautifully finished and often sports unusual features such as hand-crimped tubes or bent seat tubes.
At just 48cm, this Mino Denti Mistral is just about as small a vintage road bike frame as you are likely to find. Built from super lightweight Columbus butted tubing and with aerodynamics in mind, it probably dates from the late 1980s. The shifter mounts are located on top of the downtube and the cables are routed into the downtube, then out again by the bottom bracket where they loop round on the outside of the frame to the derailleurs. The most interesting and unique feature here though has to be the Columbus Air flattened fork and chainstays for super aero appeal, and of course the short head tube promotes a streamlined head down/bum up position on the bike.
If you're taking part in L'Eroica or a similar vintage event, this frame is of the correct age, so you won't be disqualified for being a rule breaker!

Dilecta are one of the lesser known french marques, most likely due to the demise of production during the 1950s. The company began life way back, during 1913 in central France. As was the fashion back then they built both bicycles & motorcycles, and during the first half of the 20th century Dilecta were the sponsor of a successful racing team, winning many titles including Paris-Roubaix, Tour of Flanders & Paris-Le Havre. After the unfortunate assassination of the company's founder Albert Chichery in 1944, this bicycle maker began to fade into history as it finally closed its doors in 1956.
This delightful 1940s or 50s Dilecta frame is likely a 'Tourisme' model and is built in the low slung berceau (cradle) style. This would have been a high end but practical bike back then, offering a complete package of mutiple gears, mudguards and luggage carrying capacity all wrapped up in a typically chic and stylish two tone paint job. The frame is designed around the recently resurgent 650B wheel size and will take a lovely wide tyre, it would make a wonderful retro-mod town bike

The brainchild of composite visionary Brent Trimble, along with former employee's of Trek and Blackburn, Kestrel was launched onto the scene in the late 1980s by Cycle Composites Inc. Beginning with a game-changing monocoque road bike that graced the front cover of magazines and was immediately raced to devestating effect in 1987, followed by the first full suspension carbon MTB (with V Brakes!) in 1988. Through the early adoption of computer aided design and aerodynamics, Kestrel can be credited with creating the genesis of the high-performance carbon road bike that is so prevalent today.
Taking eight years to design, test and prepare for manufacture the 4000 emerged as a fully formed, ready to race super bike in 1987. The first mass-produced carbon monocoque road bike available, it looked like nothing else, and importantly rode like nothing else too. The new technology that went into the building the 4000 resulted in a stiff, comfortable, light, well balanced frame, something of a first for carbon. To top it off it also had a strong aerodynamic benefit with its profiled shape and internal cable routing. As well as the cutting edge technology of the time, renowned bike designer and engineer Keith Bontrager advised on the geometry which pulled together into a phenomenal race bike.
This example of the legendary Kestrel 4000 frame was built in 1990, towards the end of the production run and is spaced for 6 or 7 speed drivetrains at the rear. With the classic Imron white paintwork in great order and very few marks, this rare machine was obviously well looked after and is ready to give many more years of service.

Seat Tube (ctc) - we measure from the centre of the bottom bracket shell up to the centre line of the top tube to give a consistent measurement regardless of frame design (ctc means centre to centre).
Top Tube (ctc) - this is measured from the centre of the head tube to the centre of the seat tube, along the centre of the top tube.
Chainstay Length - measured from the centre of the bottom bracket shell to the centre point of the rear dropout.
Wheelbase - measured from the centre of the front fork dropout to the centre point of the rear dropout.
Front & Rear Spacing - measured from the inside of one dropout to the other. The dropouts on steel frames can be stretched or squeezed a few mm but it's always best to avoid this if possible, aluminium or carbon frames should never be stretched.
Brake Drop - measured using wheels of the relevant size for the frame, as stated in the technical info section.
Headset Threads - although it's generally recommended to match threaded parts exactly, with headsets you can technically mix and match, unless you have French or the obscure old Raleigh threads, in which case you need to stick to that type.

Though branded with Battaglin decals from the late 1980s, this appears to be a curious mix of a Bottecchia built frame with a Berma pantographed fork. The frame lugs carry the distinctive Bottecchia cut out shape, and the internal cable routing is in a style they used too, whilst the fork carries the Berma 'B' on the fork crown. The purple and neon yellow colour scheme is reminiscent of the Team Jolly Componibili colours, who rode on Battaglins in the 80s and 90s. With Campagnolo dropouts front and rear and a slotted bottom bracket this is a well made frame, regardless of its slightly confused identity!
If you're taking part in L'Eroica or a similar vintage event, this frame is of the correct age, so you won't be disqualified for being a rule breaker!

Though most recently known for their successful mountain bike range and race teams, Lapierre have been building bikes for 75 years. Starting in 1946 in Dijon by Gaston Lapierre, the firm was passed to his son Jacky in 1960, with his son Gilles in turn taking over in 1996. One of the first French brands to jump on board the MTB craze in the mid 80s, Lapierre have become synonymous with world-beating race machines, with ten times MTB champion Nicolas Vouilloz piloting their bikes. Unlike some of their contemporaries Lapierre did not get involved with professional road racing until quite late on, but by the early 2000s were having a great deal of success. From a small family business in the 1950s, Lapierre grew with the bike boom and in 1993 were bought out by the huge conglomerate Accell who also now own Raleigh, Batavus and Koga.
We believe this lovely Lapierre step-through frame set dates back to the 1960s and is a classic 'Porteur' style bike, built for practicality and function. Designed for 650B wheels with rear drum brake and front cantilever, this would have been the equivalent of the decked out company car for someone. Complete with the stunning original polished chrome chainguard, super wide mudguards and rear rack this will make a stylish commuter or, with the addition of a front porteur rack, it would no doubt be capable of carrying a decent load around town, just like orginally intended.

Though branded Specialized this is a refinished Peugeot Triathlon PGN10, built from Reynolds 501 with a neat quill seatpost set-up. Probably from 1986, this model came at a lower price point than the full 531C Triathlon Peugeot also offered, but still had the racy geometry and recessed allen key brakes. The quill seatpost does away with a seat post bolt on the frame itself and results in a very neatly finished frame design.
The frame's been carefully checked by one of our mechanics to confirm the alignment's correct and there's no damage to the threads. Though relatively speaking Trevor Jarvis (TJ) Cycles is something of a newcomer, they were best known for (re)producing a classic, innovative frame design known as 'The Flying Gate'. In 1979 Trevor decided that, as a life-long cyclist and owner of an established engineering business, he should start building frames, and he looked to the past at the iconic muti-tubed short wheelbase Flying Gate design. With its distinctive silhouette and clever positioning of tubing, the Gate was originally designed in the 1930s by Bill Baines and the bike quickly gained a reputation as being very fast. Alongside the Gate, TJ Cycles produced custom bikes in whatever style was required until Trevor hung up his torch a few years ago.
This TJ Cycles branded frame is nicely built from Reynolds 531 with a neat lug set and sloping fork crown. Though branded TJ Cycles we are unable to confirm the frame was built by Trevor Jarvis as it lacks a frame number and this traditional style of frame was not often built by TJ Cycles so it is hard to find comparisons. Likely dating from the 1980s this is a classic British road frame with a decent clearances and a lovely blue metallic paint job.

These lovely quality 'Donna' dropped top tube race frames have never been finished or built up, and are available here in their raw state ready for painting. With their internal cable routing, fine lug-work and neat finishing they were obviously built by a talented frame shop, although we are unsure exactly who this was. The frames also feature downtube shifter bosses, a braze on front mech mount, neat dynamo light cable guides, mudguard eyelets and a pump peg. Chromed on the rear dropouts and drive side chainstay, and with a chromed fork they will look fantastic with a single colour or more adventurous paint job.

Most of our chainrings are used but we only keep ones with life left in them, and they are accurately graded depending on physical wear.
All chainrings are standard 3/32" for road use unless stated.
Please be sure to check that the BCD (Bolt Circle Diameter) matches that of your crankset, otherwise the chainring will not fit. If you need help measuring your BCD, good ol' Sheldon Brown will be glad to be of assistance here: http://www.sheldonbrown.com/gloss_bo-z.html
